Gardening
Our Award Winning Gardening Program
Our Garden was the 2017 and 2023 Victorian Schools Regional Award Winner.
Our School Community Garden has been part of our learning program for over 8 years. Just like our many Apple and Pear trees, our partnership with Cultivating Community is strongly grounded and bearing many fruits. At Mother of God School, our students participate in a weekly gardening program situated in our award winning school garden. Led by a qualified gardening teacher, the students have the opportunity to learn about agriculture, animal care, healthy food and diet in a rich, authentic and open environment.
Throughout the year, the students plant, grow and harvest an array of fruits and vegetables, which they take back into their classrooms or bring home. Our students are also taught to look after our pet chickens.
